The World Congress on Information Technology is one of the industry's key events. In October 2019 the Yerevan edition of WCIT brought together more than 100 top global speakers and over 4000 attendees in the Armenian capital.
For a few days, for all the delegates and for Avocado Toast, Armenia was the center. Yet the center, in the broad sense, can be anywhere thanks to the IT. The power of decentralization was the core concept explored by this year’s congress.
We took the essence of this idea and brought it into the storyline and scenography of the opening show. Instead of taking center stage, it expanded well into the audience hall. Essentially, the project was our manifest on the power of decentralization. We switched attention from the stage yet kept important things in the limelight. That’s why the many logical centres of the show — the orchestra, the classic Armenian duduk, the little boy — were far from where the audience would expect them to be. Because you don’t have to be in the center to be the center.
